About Jo McCoy
Kundalini yoga has profoundly impacted my life and having practiced yoga for my whole adult life, I feel it is a most effective form, enhancing life on all levels! Keeping true to Yogi Bhajan’s teachings I have completed KRI (Kundalini Research Institute) Level 1 teacher training through Sahej Academy. I will be starting Level 2 in late 2019. I am a member of the Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association (KYTA). I hold regular classes in Blissness Studio in North Berwick, Trinity Centre Haddington and workshops and private yoga sessions in other places in East Lothian, Edinburgh and online.
I have been taught by Methab Benton to play the gong to enhance the effectiveness Kundalini Yoga, ‘to take you further’ and also in its use as a deep relaxation tool as part of yoga classes and for gong relaxation sessions or ‘gong baths’. I have also had more advanced training with Methab and will be going to Spain in September to continue my training. My gong, ‘Gyan’ (‘seeing with the eye of wisdom’) has become my new best friend and now often forms a core part of yoga classes. Gong relaxation sessions are beautifully deep and healing, a truly wonderful, transformational experience. So far there is no one I have gonged that has not gone away without respect for it. Surrendering to the gong is quite an experience! I hold regular Gong classes and workshops in Edinburgh, Portobello, Archerfield, North Berwick and in the Blissness Studio, North Berwick and I often support others wellness events and retreats.
I have practiced EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) for many years and explored many ways of using it. I use EFT as an effective therapy technique that helps remove subconscious blocks, the emotional issues behind pain, phobias (e.g. fear of flying) and can be use to tap in courageous new directions. I hold EFT one-to-one sessions in Blissness Studio, North Berwick and online.
I am a Wellness Consultant for the highest quality essential oils, doTERRA, and love using the oils for myself, my family and they enhance all my classes and sessions. They are an incredible addition to our self care rituals and I am often surprised at what a difference they make to my life and how powerful they are! When you are an a yogic path many things drop away and these oils have become a clean, healthy luxury in my life replacing many products and approaches. I am happy to have a cuppa and share what I know about these amazing oils.
I enjoy working one-to-one with clients and tailoring my services to their needs.
I have formally worked for 18 years in the technology sector, becoming Head of Information Technology for the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), Historic Scotland and Historic Environment Scotland (HES). I have been responsible for production of the Digital Strategy for HES and have led many technology transformations. I have over 15 years of Senior Management Team attendance, most of my career having reported to Chief Executives and so I have a good knowledge of how organisations operate. Some of the techniques I now use in my current role I used previously in my career to help me to stay resilient. Since leaving the corporate world I have really enjoyed researching the best methods and practices from a more holistic perspective. I can naturally fit my current services to support corporate organisations wishing to explore stress reduction and deeper well-being of staff.
I live with my adventurous husband Charlie, three inspiring children and Luca the dog in North Berwick, Scotland.
